Course information

This study day is designed to give an understanding of blood result uses, limitations, and special requirements as well as how to interpret and use in practice.

It is useful for making decisions based on blood results but also supports practice nurses to understand the reasons test might be requested and factors effecting results.

The day will include a special focus on Lipids, Urea and Electrolytes and LFTs which are perhaps the most common bloods used for risk identification and medication monitoring.

Other tests which will be discussed in the context of interpretation will be full blood count, B12, Folate and Ferritin, CRP and ESR, Thyroid function, PSA and vitamin D.
