Our HNY Training Hub Team:
Various members of our wider Haxby Group family also assist and support with elements of our training hub work such as teaching delivery and specialist advice.
The parent company of the training hub host, Haxby Group, is a high-quality, community-based healthcare organisation, with general practice at its heart. Serving more than 92,000 patients, Haxby Group delivers patient care from 11 GP surgeries across York, Hull and Scarborough. We’re proud to have been rated outstanding by CQC in 2018. Education is at the heart of Haxby Group and a learning culture has always been central to our multi-professional team. Our journey hosting the training hub started in 2009 as part of the Advanced Training Practice project piloted in Yorkshire & Humber, which has evolved into the ICB-level model of training hubs we have today.
Haxby Group Training also co-ordinates the development and delivery of training courses based in primary care, offering practice-based interactive courses for clinicians and support staff. Our aim is to support practices to develop and maintain crucial skills for their staff, and assist in achieving compliance with CQC and other quality standards. Our courses are developed and delivered by staff working in general practice with current contextual knowledge and understanding, and a passion for primary care. You can find more details on the Haxby Group Training Website.
As the host of the Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub in Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) we are able to provide training support for local practices. We coordinate local schemes on behalf of NHS England and the HNY Integrated Care Board (ICB), supporting with students, trainees and workforce development. This includes aiding practices to develop supervisors and assessors, offer student placements, employ and train staff in a variety of practice roles, and access funding for training and development. We’re able to offer this support to all practices within HNY, and work closely with other local authorities and education providers as part of our training hub role.
