Course information
This course is suitable for any health care professional working in primary care in the field of coronary heart disease (CHD). It offers an opportunity to review current evidence-based practice and apply this to case studies and real-world practice. This module will count as 7.5 hours of CPD for your revalidation.
By the end of the course, attendees will have a better appreciation of:
- CHD – who is at risk and why?
- The pathophysiology of coronary heart disease, including blood pressure, lipids, and smoking
- Pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions aimed at improving outcomes
- The annual review – holistic management of CHD
Course content
- Pathophysiology and risk factors
- Diagnosing CHD: signs and symptoms
- Lifestyle interventions: dietary interventions, smoking cessation, advice on physical activity
- Pharmacological management of chronic coronary syndrome: ABC – antiplatelets/anticoagulants, blood pressure, cholesterol
- Reviewing and optimising care in the annual review
- Case studies
