Course information
This session will be delivered online by Beverley Bostock and will offer participants the opportunity to consider the relevance of medico-legal and ethical issues in modern day general practice.
This session provides a thought-provoking reflection on issues such as how to document consultations, why Bolam matters (and Bolitho matters more), the place for the Montgomery ruling in communicating risk and how to safety net effectively.
Course content
By the end of the session participants will have an increased understanding of:
- Bioethical principles for everyday practice
- Consent, competence and capacity
- The negligence cascade
- Good practice – how is it defined?
- How to document and safety net to avoid litigation
