Course information

Full day training session delivered by Jane Emerson, Nurse Educator with SY Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub on Immunisation and Injection Technique Training.
On this course you will discuss and consider:
–       Describe the anatomy and physiology of the skin.
–       Describe the injections/vaccinations that are given within General Practice and define how vaccines work.
–       Define the difference between Patient Specific Directions and Patient Group Directions.
–       Identify the need for effective communication and informed consent for procedure.
–       Discuss the correct preparation and procedure, including safe storage and disposal.
–       Recognise safeguarding issues and demonstrate the correct reporting procedure.
–       Recognise and manage adverse reactions and emergency situations.
–       Demonstrate accurate documentation.
–       Demonstrate awareness of minimal national standards, competencies required as well as the role of the supervisor and delegation.
–       Define the role of a HCA’s who can administer injections and vaccines with General Practice.

Course eligibility

This is a fully funded HCA training session for Health Care Assistant’s working in Primary care in South Yorkshire only.

Before applying for this training session, we recommend that you have completed the Care Certificate first.
