Funded clinical skills training for HCA Apprentices

Funding is still available for any HCAs on an apprenticeship to access clinical skills “bolt on” courses:

  • Venepuncture
  • ECG
  • Wound care
  • Motivational interviewing and health promotion
  • First aid (different from BLS)

The apprentice HCA would book on to the bolt on course with a provider, and the practice can claim reimbursement via the training hub. You can use any preferred provider for the bolt on courses.

HCAs can start an apprenticeship any time, which will bring with it the Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 or Level 3. Information can be found at https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/senior-healthcare-support-worker-v1-5. The apprenticeship would be funded through the practice Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS).

To find an apprenticeship provider you can use the tool on the gov.uk website which will enable you to search:  https://findapprenticeshiptraining.apprenticeships.education.gov.uk/courses/151/providers?location=

If you would like any further information about accessing HCA apprenticeships, apprenticeship funding, or accessing bolt-on clinical skills courses/ claiming reimbursement please get in touch and we would be happy to help: training@haxbygroup.co.uk
