A guide to using PARE

If you currently supervise or assess students on placements in GP, you will need a Practice Educator profile on the Practice Assessment Record & Evaluation (PARE) database of healthcare placements.

This will allow you to sign off electronic documentation for your student, to view evaluation results and to view feedback that students leave about their placement with you.

What is PARE?

PARE is a cloud-based healthcare placement quality monitoring tool funded by Heath Education England, designed for online student assessment and evaluation of practice experiences.

If you are a Practice Educator (trained supervisor/ assessor) you should already be registered with the PARE online system and you will have received an email asking you to activate your PARE online account.

If you have not received this or if you would like to be added to the system, please contact us.

What does PARE stand for?

PARE stands for Practice Assessment Record & Evaluation.

It is an online database of all of the placements across Yorkshire and Humber where healthcare students can be placed and it contains documentation designed to ensure that these placements are maintained at the highest possible standard.

What has happened to PPQA?

The old PPQA placements database has been replaced by PARE and information from PPQA has been transferred across to the new system.

PPQA remains online but inactive for the present time, to allow access to past audits.

How do I register for PARE?

All existing Mentors on the previous PPQA system should have been sent an authentication email containing an activation link to PARE, which allows you to register and set a password to log in.

The login box is situated in the top right-hand corner of the website- simply enter your NHS email address as your username and insert the password you chose during initial registration.

If you have not yet received a password, please enter your registered NHS email address as your username and click ‘forgot password.’ This will enable you to set a new password and log on to the system to view your profile.

If your information has not transferred across, or if you are a newly trained Mentor/ Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor who needs adding to your practice profile, please contact the appropriate training hub and we will be able to arrange this for you, or email info@onlinepare.net
