General Practice CPD Funding for 2026/27 - Please tell us what training is needed

We’re delighted to share a potential opportunity to secure funded training for Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) in 2026-27, to expand access to CPD training for a wider scope of general practice staff. National CPD funding has previously covered nurses, NAs and AHPs, a new local HNY ‘CPD Plus’ offer would aim to benefit all roles.

To assist with identifying needs and provision, we are sharing a CPD Plus’ Training Needs Analysis tick‑list for 2026–27 and ask that each PCN/practice completes the document and returns it by 24th April.

Your PCN/practice completed tick‑list will form part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Training Needs Analysis for 2026–27. Indicating your interest does not guarantee places on the listed training at this stage. However, this information is essential to ensure training is commissioned in line with actual workforce demand and that the regional funding envelope is allocated fairly and effectively.

What to Do

  1. Complete every section of the tick‑list that applies to your practice/PCN – It can be completed at either PCN or practice level based on what works best for your organisation.
  2. Insert role‑based numbers in the relevant boxes to indicate training needs/interest in programmes and courses. Please include needs of new staff you plan to recruit. We understand plans and requirements can change, so estimates are okay.
  3. Use the Wish‑List section to capture any additional needs.
  4. Return the completed document to the Training Hub by the 24th April 2026.

▶    If you have queries or would like any help completing it, we would be more than happy to arrange a call with you, please do reach out to us.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this information promptly. Your submission ensures that training secured across Humber and North Yorkshire reflects real need and supports our workforce effectively. Please note that at this stage funding is not yet guaranteed, however this exercise will provide robust information to evidence needs for provision.

Opening Doors - a Suicide Prevention Learning Resource

Shared on behalf of NHSE

NHS England has published animation on suicide prevention to support staff on how to recognise signs of suicidal distress in themselves and others, and the ways in which they can seek help.

Called ‘Opening Doors’, the resource has been developed by the authors of the Zero Suicide training, in partnership with healthcare staff who have been impacted by suicide.

The aim of this training is to:

  • Raise awareness of suicide risk within healthcare colleagues.
  • Enable staff to recognise signs of suicidal distress in themselves and others.
  • Support healthcare staff to intervene if they are concerned that a colleague is suicidal, encourage help seeking behaviour and signpost to support.
  • Challenge the stigma of seeking help within the healthcare community.

The training compliments the Suicide Prevention toolkit, which was included within the DHSC Suicide prevention strategy for England: 2023 to 2028.

The training is free to undertake and available on the NHS Learning Hub.
