Shared on behalf of the NHSE Faculty for Advancing Practice

The National Advanced Practice team is starting to forward plan for the Advanced Practice Conference 2025 (dates to be confirmed), and they’re looking to showcase inspiring, real-world examples of how advanced practice is transforming the workforce and making a real impact on patient care.

If your team has a story to tell or a great example of impact in any of these areas, we’d love to hear from you.

NHS Volunteering Website

Shared on behalf of NHSE

Nationally the People and Communities directorate in NHSE is relaunching the NHS volunteering website in Autumn 2025. As part of this they have asked we go out to healthcare providers and organisations in our region who would be interested in appearing on the portal on the website (if not already registered) where potential volunteers can find out about opportunities in their area.

The NHS Volunteering website is a free, easy-to-use website where potential volunteers can apply for opportunities that support healthcare in England.

In order to make the service a success and create the best experience for potential volunteers when it launches, we are encouraging as many relevant organisations to sign up as recruiters now.

It can be used by both NHS commissioned care organisations and voluntary and community sector organisations that undertake activity related to health and care.  Many are already using the service as an additional, free ‘shop window’ to advertise health-related volunteering opportunities to a diverse range of people who are keen to support their community.

The NHS Volunteering platform can channel applicants to your existing application routes, or you can use the built-in application form.  There is a dedicated team of people who can support you to use the service and post opportunities.

Updated Student Hub provides career support for student nurses, midwives and nursing associates

Shared on behalf of NHSE

To help ensure nursing, midwifery and nursing associate learners feel confident and well-prepared for the next step in their careers, NHS England has updated a dedicated Student Hub.

This enhanced Hub now includes targeted resources to support job searching and interview preparation, helping students and newly registered professionals feel more confident and better equipped as they start their new careers across health and care.

It has been developed in collaboration with students, professional bodies, health, care and higher education partners, and will be regularly updated to reflect evolving needs.

The Student Hub aims to:

  • empower learners and newly registered professionals to explore the diverse health and care career opportunities available
  • share quick job site links for a range of vacancies across the NHS, social care, independent sector and charitable sector
  • provide practical tools and guidance to support job search, applications and interview processes
  • bridge the gap between academic studies and professional employment ensure graduates feel informed and ready to take the next step into the health and care workforce

Earlier this month, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced a Graduate Guarantee: a commitment that every newly qualified nurse and midwife in England will have the opportunity to join the health and social care workforce.

  • The Student Hub brings together a range of job sites to make finding vacancies easier with links to opportunities across the NHS, social care, the independent sector and charitable organisations.

Please share this resource widely with your networks to help ensure every student and newly registered nurse, midwife and nursing associate gets the support they need.

Expression of Interest: NHS England Teach and Treat Programme 2025/26

We are pleased to announce the launch of the NHS England Teach and Treat Programme 2025/26.

Details:

NHS England is investing in the future of community pharmacy by expanding the number of independent prescribers and cultivating the next generation of Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPPs).

The aim of the Teach and Treat programme is to enable community pharmacists to train as independent prescribers in supervised clinical environments, working alongside locally identified multiprofessional DPPs. This approach ensures high-quality, hands-on learning that is embedded within real-world practice and aligned with local service needs.

What is the offer:

Individual organisations or collaborations of organisations across each NHS England region are invited to submit expressions of interest for funding of up to £100,000. Proposals should be based on an amount which demonstrates clear delivery plans aligned to the objectives of the programme. Please note that collaborative bids must identify a lead organisation, which will be responsible for receiving payments and maintaining project governance.

Following assessment, there may be scope to offer additional funding up to 20% to successful applicants to further strengthen delivery and the evidence base. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.

This funding is intended to:

  • Facilitate access to supervision
  • Enable completion of Independent Prescribing (IP) training
  • Support progression into active prescribing roles

While funding may contribute to supervision-related costs, the aim is to support the development of sustainable supervision models rather than solely covering Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) support. Applicants should consider how their proposals will build long-term capacity and infrastructure for supervision.

Note: Successful bids are subject to NHS England Business Case Approval

How can I apply:

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have access to a clinical environment where NHS prescribing activity takes place, with a suitable scope of practice for community pharmacist prescribers
  • Be able to source or have access to Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPPs) to support community pharmacists through an IP course
  • Commit to enrolling eligible community pharmacists onto an IP course by 31 March 2026
  • Identify a Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) and appoint a Project Lead

Interested applicants must submit their proposal using the official Expression of Interest (EOI) form.  All submissions will be assessed against defined evaluation criteria to determine eligibility and funding allocation.

Timelines:

  • EOI Opens: 1st September 2025
  • EOI Closes: 6th October midday 2025
  • Notification of Successful Bids: Starting from week commencing 27th October 2025

Find out more:

To support interested organisations, NHS England will host a drop-in stakeholder session offering guidance on the application process. In addition, case study stakeholder sessions will be held to showcase how the initiative has been successfully developed in the past and its impact on the community pharmacy workforce.
