The West Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub is working in collaboration with Practicum Primary Care Training Ltd to deliver a 1-day face-to-face Phlebotomy training session.
Phlebotomy is an essential skill within general practice, combining technical accuracy with compassionate patient care. Through understanding best practices, recognising and avoiding common challenges, and applying practical experience, healthcare professionals can deliver safe and effective blood collection. Continued learning, constructive feedback, and hands-on training are key to developing both confidence and competence in this vital area of primary care.
This session is suitable for non-clinical and clinical professionals new to phlebotomy.
The course fee is £140 per person.
This course includes theoretical and practical training.
Learning Outcomes:
- To gain an understanding of relevant anatomy & physiology of the venous system in relation to venepuncture.
- To be aware of the legal and professional frameworks, including implications to venepuncture.
- To perform appropriate checks prior to venepuncture.
- To competently document post procedure.
- To identify factors influencing vein selection.
- To confidently and competently undertake venepuncture in accordance with local policy.
- To be aware of complications related to venepuncture and how to manage them.
