HNY ICB has Apprenticeship Levy funding available to support health and social care organisations across Humber and North Yorkshire. We can help you bridge skill gaps, improve delivery, and empower your workforce.
Since 2017, companies with an annual wage bill of more than £3 million have been required to pay the apprenticeship levy, using the funds to recruit and train apprentices. They can also choose to transfer up to 50% of their levy to help support other companies.

A key focus of the apprenticeship funding will be on Leading for Excellence, Leading for Prevention, Leading for Sustainability and Voice at the Heart, reflecting on HNY ICB’s own drivers. This approach aims to help organisations bridge the skills gaps, delivery improvement, digital and data, empowering collaboratives, enabling population health, system workforce, outcomes-led resourcing and transformative public engagement.
The levy is open to all Health and Social Care organisations across Humber and North Yorkshire aligning with the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan; To expand its apprenticeship offer through addressing workforce shortages, career development both clinical and non-clinical personnel. Widen opportunities to people from all backgrounds making it a more inclusive place to work.
How to apply for a levy transfer from HNY ICB:
For Organisations that do not pay the levy can use their own finance to pay for apprenticeships with the Government providing 95% of the cost of the training, and the organisation contributing the remaining 5% by reserving funding via the Apprenticeship Service account. This is also known as co-investment. In cases where organisations do not wish to spend 5% of their finance, they can alternative apply for a levy transfer from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB via ICB Apprenticeship Levy Transfer Request Form, which will cover 100% of the training fees for your Apprentice(s).

Levy transfer should be requested at least 8 weeks before the start date to enable time to go through the ICB approval process.
