Shared on behalf of Workforce, Training and Education (WT&E), NHS England

We’re pleased to share that the Early Career Pharmacist Supervisor Resource Library is now live.

Visit our new Futures Page to find out more.

This curated library has been developed to support supervisors of newly qualified pharmacists under both the previous and current learning outcomes as well as those early in their career. It offers a flexible collection of short courses, training materials, and practical tools to help supervisors provide high-quality support aligned with current education and training standards.

Please note: this resource does not include content related to designated prescribing practitioner (DPP) supervision or clinical supervision assurance of practice.

We encourage you to explore the library and share it with colleagues involved in supervising early career pharmacists. Join us in shaping the new pilot training pathway for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers 2026/27

From 2026, NHS England will pilot a new education and training pathway for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist (ECP) prescribers. This initiative addresses longstanding inconsistencies in supervision, funding, and training quality across sectors and regions.

What’s new

The core elements for evaluation of the proposed 12-month pathway include induction, revised RPS Enhanced Curriculum, an e-portfolio, learning resources, supervision, protected time, and credentialing. We’re inviting employers, supervisors, learners, and partners to be part of this exciting journey.

Register your interest to join the conversation

We will be developing the pathway offer to meet the needs of newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers and employers, enabling the delivery of high-quality care to patients. Participation will help shape an equitable pathway aligned with service priorities.

Feedback will contribute to developing a unified training offer that supports prescribing competence in any practice setting. To express an interest in being involved in the conversation you need to complete the form below by 8 January 2026
