Long-Term Conditions and Prevention - CVDR Training Grants – Expression of Interest (EOI)

Shared on behalf of NHSE Long Term Conditions and Prevention Programme –  Workforce Training and Education

We are delighted to inform you that NHS England’s Long-Term Conditions and Prevention (LTCP) programme has launched CVDR training grant offers that may be of interest to you and your workforce.

Are you a healthcare professional currently delivering long term condition interventions within community or primary care based settings? Are you interested in developing skills for the prevention, recognition, management, personalised care, prehabilitation, and rehabilitation for cardiovascular, respiratory, diabetes and stroke conditions? Are you developing interventions to support the NHS 10 Year Plan aspirations for example through neighbourhood health, prevention accelerators, community diagnostics etc.? NHS England, Workforce Training and Education Programme recognises our role in providing access to high quality education and training for the multi-disciplinary generalist workforce that equips them to deliver ‘at home’ community and primary care based interventions to deliver NHS 10 Year Plan ambitions.  Therefore, we are undertaking a training grant process that builds on the successful CVD-R training grant pilot launched in 2024.

The training grant process will offer training grants of up to £3,000 per applicant to enable healthcare professionals to access level 7 (postgraduate) courses offering advanced training in long-term conditions (either generalist or in a specific condition area across cardiovascular, respiratory, diabetes and stroke).

  • Applicants will have the opportunity to apply for full or partial funding for courses relevant to delivering prevention, recognition, management, personalised care, prehabilitation or rehabilitation interventions.

What do you need to know?

It is important to spend some time reviewing the training grant process documentation first to ensure this is the right opportunity for you.

  • For an overview of the training grant process including the eligibility criteria, assessment framework, requirements, and timetable see attached

Funded 2025/26 GPA Programme

Shared on behalf of West Yorkshire Training Hub (covering all Yorkshire & Humber with the GPA Programme)

Calling all Receptionists and Administrators!

Exciting news – applications are open for the 2025/26 GPA Programme, featuring a brand-new Admin-Only Accredited Route.

This pathway is designed specifically for staff who want to develop their skills and gain formal recognition. Best of all, no GP mentor is required for the admin-only route – mentors can be drawn from your existing team, such as a nurse, practice manager, or ACP, making it easier than ever to get involved.

For those who would like to pursue the full clinical route, while a GP mentor is required for overall competency sign-off, the process doesn’t need to be onerous. Secondary mentors can be assigned to support progress behind the scenes and sign off the three admin-focused units, allowing the GP to take on a lighter oversight role.

Practice Managers – Remember that the GPA role is fully funded under the ARRS scheme, and both the Clinical and Admin-Only routes are covered.

If you’d like to find out more or discuss how this could work in your practice, please get in touch, we’d love to help you get started! wy.traininghub@nhs.net

Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship Opportunity

Shared on behalf of NHSE

The NHS Humber Health Partnership (NLAG and HUTH) is pleased to share a valuable professional development opportunity with our partners across the Northern Lincolnshire, Hull, and East Riding ICB region.

They are launching a new cohort for the Level 5 Coaching Professional apprenticeship this February.

Key Program Details:

  • Qualification: Includes the highly regarded ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring.
  • Delivery Partner: TACK TMI.

Focus on Non-Levy Paying Organisations

We are especially keen to offer this programme to colleagues in smaller, non-levy paying organisations including GP Practices, Hospices, Dental etc, who might not have the capacity to commission a cohort independently.

To support this, The NHS Humber Health Partnership are making a maximum of 10 levy transfers available. These transfers will cover the full learning costs of the programme (equivalent to £5,000 per place). If there is further interest beyond the 10, there is potential opportunity to source further levy transfers through other networks.

Action Required

Please circulate this opportunity within your networks to any colleagues who would welcome this chance to develop high-level coaching and mentoring skills.

Next Steps:

Colleagues interested in learning more are invited to attend an information session in November. To receive the link for a session, please ask them to contact:

Email: hyp-tr.apprentices@nhs.net or nlg-tr.twapprenticeships@nhs.net

Thank you to NHS Humber Health Partnership for helping us make this development opportunity accessible across the Humber patch.

If anybody else has any further apprenticeship queries, please do not hesitate to reach out to me george.zuerner@nhs.net
