Following the sign-up of GP practices across Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) for Local Enhanced Services (LES), the system is keen to implement a supportive training offer for participating healthcare professionals. Working with the ICB and colleagues across the system, we aim to support provision of this offer to enable the delivery of the LES’s for those participating within HNY. Inclusion is for each element requiring training within the following LES specifications:

  • Diagnostics
    – Phlebotomy LES
    – Respiratory LES – Spirometry / FeNO
    – ECG LES
  • Diabetes LES
  • Wound Care LES
  • Anti-coagulation LES
  • Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) Monitoring LES
  • Vaginal Pessary for Pelvic Organ Prolapse LES
  • Intra-uterine System Insertion and Removal LES
  • Shared Care LES

What training can be accessed?

Below you can find information on funded training available to support this offer – please click the (+) next to each LES area to see details.

Some elements are in the process of being provisioned, and further updates will be added here and shared with practices via email in due course. We have reached out to practices who have indicated a training requirement for each particular LES, to ensure the offer is developed to meet the needs of the healthcare professionals seeking training.

Phlebotomy:

LES funded phlebotomy training is now available for staff in all roles, employed in a Humber and North Yorkshire practice/PCN signed up to the phlebotomy LES specification (in addition to those who could already access as part of the CPD Offer.)

  • Upcoming ‘Basic Venepuncture’ dates can be found and booked here: Academicare | Basic Venepuncture.
  • You can book directly online, if you are eligible for funding as above, please select ‘CPD/LES Funded’ at checkout and you will not be charged. As places on each date are limited, each individual may book with funding on only one date per course – if you wish to swap dates, please cancel your initial booking before re-booking another date. To avoid funding waste, multiple bookings for the same individual, non-attendance without cancellation, or short notice cancellation (except in exceptional circumstances) will not be funded.

Respiratory:

Spirometry:

LES funded spirometry training is now available for staff in all roles, employed in a Humber and North Yorkshire practice/PCN signed up to the respiratory LES specification (in addition to those who could already access as part of the CPD Offer.)

  • Rotherham Respiratory Spirometry course details and booking information can be found here: Course Portfolio – Rotherham Respiratory LTD. There are several differing spirometry courses to meet requirements of different professionals, staff can select the course that fulfils their need – for any queries on course suitability please contact enquiries@rotherhamrespiratory.com. You can book directly and the team will recognise if you are eligible for funding. 
  • Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Respiratory Clinical Network are holding full-day, face-to-face training sessions to support primary care teams to deliver high-quality spirometry. The sessions will be delivered by physiology leads from Hull and York/Scarborough Teaching Hospital services and are intended to improve healthcare professionals’ competence and confidence in performing and interpreting spirometry. This training is currently available to one healthcare professional per practice.For details and to book:

LES funded ECG training is now available for staff in all roles, employed in a Humber and North Yorkshire practice/PCN signed up to the ECG LES specification (in addition to those who could already access as part of the CPD Offer.)

Foundation, Advancing, and Update courses are available so staff can select depending on their need – for any queries on course suitability please contact enquiries@rotherhamrespiratory.com.
    – Please note, the advancing module has recently been updated to encompass latest GPL1 guidance as covered in the LES spec.
    – You can book directly and the Rotherham Respiratory team will recognise if you are eligible for funding.

  • PITstop Programme for Injectable Therapies (or similar) can be accessed if needing insulin initiation training. Course details can be found here: PITstop (Programme for Injectable Therapies): 2.5-day course

    Practices may access this or an alternative preferred provider and claim reimbursement up to the cost of £570, available for one individual per practice.
    – To claim reimbursement, please submit a claim form to hnyicb.traininghub@nhs.net, including a copy of the invoice you need reimbursing

Wound Care:

LES funded Wound Care training is now available for staff in all roles, employed in a Humber and North Yorkshire practice/PCN signed up to the Wound Care LES specification (in addition to those who could already access as part of the CPD Offer.)

  • Upcoming ‘Wound Care’ details and dates can be found and booked here (please note courses have been updated to include additional elements of the LES spec):

Provision for any requirements identified for advanced elements outside of this, e.g. practical training in performing doppler assessments, will be communicated in due course and claimable via reimbursement.

Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) Monitoring:

  • There have been no practice requests for this area, if you have a requirement please contact hnyicb.traininghub@nhs.net and we will explore options.

Vaginal Pessary for Pelvic Organ Prolapse:

  • Practices may choose their preferred provider and claim up to £100 reimbursement (this is the average cost of available courses)
  • To claim reimbursement, please submit a claim form to hnyicb.traininghub@nhs.net, including a copy of the invoice you need reimbursing
