Following the sign-up of GP practices across Humber and North Yorkshire for Local Enhanced Services (LES), the system is keen to ensure a supportive training offer is in place for participating healthcare professionals. We are working with the ICB and colleagues across the system to support provision of this offer.
What will be covered?
The training offer is being implemented to enable the delivery of the LES’s for General Practice healthcare professionals participating within Humber and North Yorkshire ICS. Inclusion is for each element requiring training within the following LES specifications:
- Diagnostics
– Phlebotomy LES
– Respiratory LES – Spirometry / FeNO
– ECG LES
- Diabetes LES
- Wound Care LES
- Anti-coagulation LES
- Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) Monitoring LES
- Vaginal Pessary for Pelvic Organ Prolapse LES
- Intra-uterine System Insertion and Removal LES
- Shared Care LES

What training can be accessed?
Below you can find details of funded training already available to support this offer.
Some elements are in the process of being provisioned, and further updates will be added here and shared with practices via email in due course.
We will be making contact with practices who have indicated a training requirement for each particular LES, to ensure the offer is developed to meet the needs of the healthcare professionals seeking training.
Phlebotomy:
- Funded phlebotomy training is already available for nurses, NAs and AHPs to access via the CPD Offer. Upcoming ‘Basic Venepuncture’ dates can be found here and booked via info@academicare.co.uk – you can book directly and the team will recognise if you are eligible for funding
- Provision for any requirements identified for roles outside of the CPD offer will be communicated in due course
Respiratory:
- Spirometry – Funded training is already available for nurses, NAs and AHPs to access via the CPD Offer. Spirometry course details and booking information can be found here – you can book directly and the team will recognise if you are eligible for funding. There are several differing spirometry courses to meet requirements of different professionals, staff can select the course that fulfils their need – for any queries on course suitability please contact enquiries@rotherhamrespiratory.com
- FeNO – Freely available training for all NHS healthcare staff is already available via e-LfH: FeNO in Asthma – e-learning for healthcare.
- Provision for any requirements identified for elements or roles outside of these will be communicated in due course
ECG:
- Funded ECG training is already available for nurses, NAs and AHPs to access via the CPD Offer. Upcoming ‘Basic ECG’ dates and can be found here and booked via info@academicare.co.uk – you can book directly and the team will recognise if you are eligible for funding
- Provision for any requirements identified for roles outside of the CPD offer will be communicated in due course
Diabetes:
- Training offer provision in development to ensure all elements of the LES specification are covered, for any queries please contact hnyicb.traininghub@nhs.net
- Some funded diabetes training is already available for nurses, NAs and AHPs to access via the CPD Offer. Diabetes course details and booking information can be found here – you can book directly and the team will recognise if you are eligible for funding. Foundation, Advancing, and Update courses are available so staff can select depending on their need – for any queries on course suitability please contact enquiries@rotherhamrespiratory.com

Wound Care:
- Funded basic wound care training is already available for nurses, NAs and AHPs to access via the CPD Offer. Upcoming ‘Basic Wound Care’ dates can be found here and booked via info@academicare.co.uk

Anti-coagulation:
- We will be liaising with practices identifying a training need, to coordinate a provision that meets the needs of those requesting it. Further information will be shared in due course.
Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) Monitoring:
- We will be liaising with practices identifying a training need, to coordinate a provision that meets the needs of those requesting it. Further information will be shared in due course.
Vaginal Pessary for Pelvic Organ Prolapse:
- We will be liaising with practices identifying a training need, to coordinate a provision that meets the needs of those requesting it. Further information will be shared in due course.
Intra-uterine System Insertion and Removal:
- We will be liaising with practices identifying a training need, to coordinate a provision that meets the needs of those requesting it. Further information will be shared in due course.

When/how will further information be shared?
Practices will be kept up to date as the offer evolves, via direct email to those who have indicated a training requirement for each specific LES, and more broadly via newsletters.
