By providing placements for student nurses, the aim is to promote practice nursing as a career pathway when in the past it might otherwise have been overlooked by students. This in turn should help to secure an important part of the future primary care workforce.

• Attracts tariff payment as per student nurses

• Supervising staff do not need a specific supervisor/assessor qualification

The application process for organisations within North East and Yorkshire to apply for the NHS England funding to support train advanced practitioners in 2026/27 has re-opened until 31^st July 2026.

• Each organisation applying must nominate a single contact to lead on the Advanced Practitioner process and act as a key liaison for all enquiries relating to Advanced Practitioners. All applications must be approved and submitted by the same lead contact.

• We aim to notify your organisation of the outcome within 6-8 weeks of submitting your full application.

First Contact Practitioner NHSE Funded Programme –
Paramedic or Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal)

This postgraduate certificate aims to provide a bespoke programme for registered paramedics or physiotherapists to advance their knowledge, understanding and skills in order to practice as a First Contact Practitioner in the primary care setting.

Start date: September 2026 and January 2027
Programme length: Part-time, 1 year
Delivery: Online
Fees: Funding is available from NHS England for students residing in England.
Progression: A strength of this programme is the ability to apply for accreditation of prior learning (APL) into the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Cumbria.

Multiprofessional Supervision Courses and Supervisor Support

Expression of Interest (EOI) for Multi-sector Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) 2026/28 is now open. This financial training contribution is to support Primary Care or GP-led employers in NEY to deliver multi-sector pharmacy technician training programmes in partnership with community and/or hospital pharmacy

The deadline for submissions is 12noon Monday 24 August 2026.
