Applications for the West Yorkshire Fellowship Programme 2026 will open on 23 June 2026 and close on 25 September 2026.
The West Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub (WY PCWTH) is pleased to offer the 2026 Fellowship Programme for newly qualified GPs and General Practice Nurses (GPNs) across West Yorkshire.
The West Yorkshire Fellowship Programme 2026 is a 12-month structured development programme for:
The programme begins with an introductory information session in October 2026, with monthly education sessions commencing in November 2026.
Fellows will take part in:
Mentoring is provided by GPMplus (LMC Services Yorkshire CIC), with trained GP and GPN mentors offering regular structured support throughout the programme.
Each Fellow will undertake a PCN Portfolio Project throughout the 12-month programme.
Fellows are expected to discuss and agree a project with their Primary Care Network Clinical Director (CD) prior to application. This ensures the project supports both the Fellow’s development and PCN priorities.

Fellows are encouraged to have access to their project from the start of the programme, with opportunities to experience different settings and ways of working across their PCN.
The Fellowship Programme is designed to provide structured support for clinicians at an early stage of their career in general practice.

The programme aims to strengthen retention, improve support for newly qualified clinicians, and build long-term professional networks across primary care.
The programme is supported by non-recurrent local workforce funding.
A practice support payment of £4,000 per Fellow is available to participating practices. This funding is paid in two instalments and is intended to support the administrative and rota planning requirements associated with releasing Fellows to take part in the programme.
There is no direct funding or salary backfill payment for Fellows within the programme.
